Some days ago I visited Euroflora, the international flowers and plants exhibition that periodically is held in Genoa, and I took the opportunity for sketching the event. Me and my good friend and Urban Sketchers Liguria’s founder Valentina Raiola took with us colours and sketchbooks and we jumped in the variety of colours, scenes and scents that the fair offered. This edition took place in an incredible location: the marvellous Parks in Nervi, directly facing the sea promenade.
All the sketches in this article have been made live despite the rain and the constant passing of big groups of visitors 🙂
The variety of sets prepared for the fair gifted us a pretty wide range of formal and style experimentations. Above, a colourful tropicat set, rich with details.
One of the tourists’ favourite attractions was for sure the giant chili peppers art installation by Giuseppe Carta: vivid red, they were standing out from the green of the fields, the ideal mate for many selfies.
Among the international sets, one of the most appreciated ones was for sure the Murcia‘s one: the dancers, wearing wide skirts made of flowers, got the attention of the visitors representing a classical Spanish cliché with a green twist.
The sketch above portraits my favourite set: dreamlike, enchanted, fantastic, it grouped together flowers, plants and fishes, creating with them a magical underwater garden.
